Green Bay Fear is a charity-benefitting haunt, and it takes over 60 people to run our show everynight, so we need YOU! Our volunteers make us who we are. Haunting is an exciting and fun experience, and a great way to learn new skills and make friends. We have endless gratitude to our volunteers, and always welcome more to join in!
We welcome all experience levels! We have several training days during the off season, and can show you the basics of Scare Acting quickly. We also love to teach all the different skills involved in haunted houses, from basic costume making to scene design. Haunting is a great way to be all varieties of creative
Volunteers need to be 15 years of age or older to volunteer, with parental permission slip signedand returned for those under 18. Anyone interested in volunteering that is between ages 13 to 15 would need to volunteer directly with an adult family member who is 18 years of age or older,and be approved by management depending on the event. Some event nights are not open to anyone under 15.
Of course! Everyone will need to have the proper forms filled out before volunteering, but the more the merrier. Keep in mind that while we do try to keep friends together or nearby each other, it's not guaranteed you will be placed with your bestie. We expect all of our volunteers to follow directions and the rules of Green Bay Fear. And...We want you to have fun while volunteering!
Of course, acting is the most popular way to volunteer at Green Bay Fear, but there are a limited number of other opportunities to participate! Other positions include: Ticket Takers for each attraction, Info Booth, Parking Attendants, Makeup Assistants, Maintenance Assistants and Runners. These positions do not typically require makeup and costume, but could be in makeup and costume where appropriate. Non-acting volunteers who choose not to be in costume should wear Fear Gear or non-branded clothing. Volunteers are provided with water and snacks while we are open, and are welcome to purchase others at concessions or bring their own.
There is also opportunity to join our Build and Scenic team, who tirelessly works year-round to maintain the grounds and construct scenes. If you're interested in helping to create our fantasticsets, send us a message or give us a call!
Yes! We would be happy to write you a letter, or fill out any forms you need. It is your responsibility to inform management of what you require, including tracking your hours.
Dressing for the weather is incredibly important. We are mostly outside, so wear layers and dress appropriately for the weather. We do provide hand warmers to outside actors by request.
Costumes and props can be brought from home. We encourage you to make your own character! Any items brought from home will need to be preapproved by management. We would prefer you send a photo of anything you wish to wear or bring prior to arrival to our Facebook page. Please remember: We do NOT allow costumes that are licensed characters.
To maintain our aesthetic standard, we don't typically allow volunteers to do their own makeup without prior approval from our Makeup Department. You may wear theatrical contacts or teeth if you choose, but otherwise volunteers should arrive barefaced or with very minimal makeup on, to give our makeup artists a blank canvas. We want you to look good while scaring!
Props must NOT be real knives, axes, etc. If you don’t have your own costumes and props, that is okay! Green Bay Fear has a great makeup & costume department that can help you get into character quickly.
When you arrive to volunteer, park in our gravel lot; the driveway is located on the right just pastthe Beja Shrine parking lot. Check in at the Production Trailer, where you will fill out and turn in any forms and get instructions for the night.
On our open nights, Management, Costume, and Makeup trailers open for check-in between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. All actors must be checked in prior to 6:15PM, and other staff by 6:30 PM. Please arrive as early as possible, to cut down on wait times and lines in costume and makeup.
You will be given a character and placement in a designated area, and then sent to costume and makeup. Placement is generally on a first-come basis, so come early if you have a specific area you'd like to be in!
You can, we do have limited locker space available. Small bags and water bottles may be able to be stashed in your designated area. We are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings. Cell phone use is NOT permitted outside of designated break areas while we are open with limited exceptions pre-approved by management. We do encourage volunteers to post about the haunt on social media regularly!
